Sculpture artist David Smus will open his studio both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm on October 1 & 2 of 2016. Refreshments will be available. David is a sculptor whose finished medium is limited edition or one-of-a-kind bronze, done with the age-old lost wax method of casting (no foundry or casting is done in his studio). David’s studio is set up to do all the preliminary design & clay modeling of original sculptures from which molds are made and castings are done. At least one work in progress can be viewed on his workbench as well as all the tools and materials involved. David is more than happy to explain, demonstrate and answer questions regarding the process or finished works. Other clay models and maquettes (miniature preliminary models) will be here to see, as well as parts and materials to help visualize the process…such as armatures, molds, waxes, ceramic shell, etc. Finished bronzes for show and for sale will be displayed.
