Photographer Andree Kehn honored by home-town solo exhibition

Norway, Me (June 17, 2015) – Photographer Andree Kehn is showing her series of underwater portraits, printed on brushed aluminum, at The Commons at The Center for Ecology Based Economy in Norway Maine. There will be a reception for the artist on July 10th at 6pm to help kick off the Norway Arts Festival.

This unique underwater photo series explores the unexpected isolation that accompanies the success of a self-starter entrepreneur. After spending several winters working alone in her home office, Andree took a seasonal position as a waterpark lifeguard in search of social opportunities and began this underwater photo project.

The subjects, directed to react to imagined motivations, are whimsical, humorous and slightly creepy. The resulting images portray mysterious scenarios. Wardrobe and props are utilized to help set the mood.

The water also functions as a character. With the world silenced, we are left with the photographer, the subject and the viewer, struggling to communicate.
