Advancement & Communications Manager, Mayo Street Arts

Mayo Street Arts is a community-based arts organization in Portland, ME, that believes in the power of arts to build community. Our building serves as a theater, a gallery, and an artist space where we create programs to engage and reflect the diversity of our neighborhood. We create and host programs designed to inspire and connect people through music, dance, puppetry, and the visual arts. Responsibilities

This person will lead the effort to increase contributed income from individual donors and businesses and work closely with the Executive Director to enact the organization’s annual fundraising plan. Responsibilities include:

Donor Advancement & Communications

  • Manages annual appeal program including annual mailings, email, and events
  • Manages database, tracks donations, provides donor acknowledgements, reports
  • Tracks grant deadlines and writes grant reports
  • Identifies prospects
  • Coordinates​ member events and invites
  • Assists the Executive Director with advancement initiatives including donor visits
  • Attends fundraising events as necessary

Communications

  • Manages website and social media platforms
  • Writes organizational newsletters and website posts related to fundraising
  • Edits and sends weekly events newsletter
  • Edits and sends press releases
  • Edits and mails events calendar mailers

Administration

  • Manages office communications and physical space
  • Provides administrative support to the Executive Director
  • Responds to rental inquiries, audience member questions, community member inquiries
  • Issues contracts for rentals, performing arts, and visual arts agreements

Other

  • Helps with events and exhibit setup as needed when needed

Compensation

Hours & Compensation

  • The position is full-time, exempt, 35 hours per week
  • Evenings and weekends occasionally required for performances and special events
  • Annual salary of $40,000 plus benefits
