About the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Freeport

The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Freeport (ACAF) was formed in 2015 by residents of Freeport and representatives of local businesses and organizations. ACAF is dedicated to fostering the Greater Freeport creative community and to establishing Greater Freeport as a vibrant center for arts and culture for residents and visitors alike. With the support of the Town of Freeport and our community, this spring ACAF will be opening Meetinghouse Arts (MhA), a 200-seat venue and art gallery, which will provide space for the community to come together to create, collaborate, present, and enjoy a diverse array of arts and cultural work. Situated in the center of town, MhA will offer space at affordable rates and tickets at reasonable prices.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside a committed and active Board of Directors and with additional support staff anticipated within the next year, the Executive Director will oversee all aspects of our work. The Executive Director will be responsible for the daily administration of the organization – including financial management and communications – but will also join the Board in shaping a dynamic vision for ACAF’s future, including the MhA facility. Jointly with the Board, the Executive Director will be responsible for fundraising, working closely with donors, foundations, businesses, and volunteers to ensure ACAF has the resources needed to sustain its work. The Executive Director will promote our mission and events via our website and social media, and will actively engage the public and our local schools. With the construction of MhA due to be completed by the end of May 2021, the Executive Director will focus on defining a strategy for the programming of Meetinghouse Arts, which has a financial model designed to allow it to quickly become a self-sustaining asset. 

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 yrs. experience leading teams and executing projects
  • Action-oriented, enthusiastic, team builder, and creative problem-solver 
  • Fundraising experience and a commitment to cultivating relationships with foundations, major donors, members, schools and volunteers
  • Knowledge and interest in arts and culture including theater, music, lectures and fine arts
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, computer competency, and attention to detail
  • Budgeting and financial tracking experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Freeport area and its residents
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and committees

This is a full-time position. The ACAF Board is open to discussing a transition from part time if the candidate is not immediately available on a full-time basis.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 (contingent on experience) plus the potential for a qualitative annual bonus.
  • Paid time off: generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday leave
  • Health insurance stipend
