Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras Winter Concert

  • Date: December 5, 2021
  • Time: 06:30 PM - 08:00 PM
  • Location: South Parish Congregational Church, Augusta

The power and beauty of classical music will be showcased by the energetic young musicians of Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras on Sunday December 5 at 6:30 at South Parish Congregational Church in Augusta.  Masks are required for performers and audience alike. Donations are gratefully accepted to help defray concert expenses.  Students and children are free and encouraged to attend.

The preparatory ensemble, Kennebec Valley Youth Orchestra conducted by Dan Keller, will perform selections from  Corelli's La Folia variations, Jean-Phillipe Rameau’s “Pièces de clavecin en concert” (Harpsichord concert pieces) and an arrangement of the lovely traditional tune Over the Sea to Skye.

Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony, conducted by Jinwook Park, will perform Mozart's brilliant and familiar “Symphony #40” and Elgar's challenging  and deeply romantic rarely played treasure “Introduction and Allegro for string quartet and orchestra”.  In the string quartet solos, we celebrate and honor home-schooled senior students Josh Rosenthal and Catherine Estes, along with UMO freshman Anna Berkes and Waterville HS sophomore Sophia Scheck.
