A Company of Girls presents “A DOUBLE DOSE OF DAHL” with “James and the Giant Peach” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in repertory!

This May, A Company of Girls will be performing two of Roald Dahl’s best-loved stories in repertory!  

Roald Dahl’s classic tale, “James and the Giant Peach” is faithfully told by James and his insect friends – Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird and Earthworm. When James, an orphaned boy from England with terrible aunts Spiker and Sponge for guardians, befriends human like bugs who live inside a giant peach, we follow them on an adventure that takes them on a wild and crazy journey all the way to New York City."Pure fun for the whole family. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is undoubtedly one of Dahl’s most famous tales. In “Charlie” we follow the story of an ordinary boy, named Charlie Bucket, as he gains entrance to the mysterious chocolate factory of Willy Wonka. The eccentric Wonka decides to allow 5 children to visit his famous chocolate factory if they find one of the golden tickets hidden beneath the wrappingof five ordinary Wonka bars. Follow favorite characters such as Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee and Charlie as they win tickets and visit the factory. Find out what happens during this magical tale filled with chocolate rivers, oompa loompas and many other surprises!

“James and the Giant Peach” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will be performed in repertory at the Studio Theater at Portland Stage (25A Forest Avenue).

“James” performances are Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 and 2:00; Friday, May 10 at 7:00; Saturday, May 11 at 7:00; and Sunday, May 12 at 2:00

“Charlie” performances are Friday May 3 at 7:00; Saturday, May 4 at 7:00; Sunday, May 5 at 2:00; and Saturday May 11 at 11:00 and 2:00.

Tickets are $5 for kids and $8 for adults. ($2 off for mothers on the Sunday, May 12 Mother’s Day performance.) Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged. To reserve seating please call 207/874-2107 or email devin@acompanyofgirls.org.
