Come out and join in the fun as the City of Biddeford celebrates winter with a weekend of great events!

February 1-3, 2013! 

Get into the mood with the 50 Plus Club's events on January 30. 12:30 p.m. SuperDuper Bingo at the RossCenter Dining Room. Pie Contest at 3:30 p.m. with celebrity judges. To participate in the contest, bring two pies of the same kind to the RossCenter by 10:00 a.m. (Pies will be sorted into different categories: meat pies, fruit pies, dessert pies.) FRIDAY, February 1
The festivities kick off on Friday Night with the Biddeford Big Air and Rail Jam contest where skiers and riders from all over New England compete by dropping in from a 30 foot tower and launch off a giant kicker built right on Adams Street by City Hall. We will be joined by X Games Silver Medalist and pro snowboarder Ryan Paul. This event is free to watch and sponsored by NewLifeChurch members.

St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus will be offering Lobster rolls and lobster stew (5-9 p.m. or while supplies last) in City Square. St. Jean de Baptiste will be selling chili, in conjunction with the BHS Language Club Friday night and Saturday. Other groups will be doing fund-raisers as well, and we'll add that info as we get it.

SATURDAY, February 2
On Saturday from 10 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. there will be activities for the whole family! The Downtown Development Commission once again will host the sliding on Adams Street. There will be free sleigh rides from Heart of Biddeford, pony rides, snow shoeing with WinterKids, snow volleyball from the Biddeford Recreation Department, and kid's games from NewLifeChurch. Down the street, there will be indoor and outdoor crafts and activities at McArthur Library. Local service organizations will provide activities and sell refreshments in City Square as well. 

The Biddeford High School National Honor Society will host a lip-sync contest in City Square, beginning at Noon. More details here soon.

Downtown businesses in Biddeford and Saco will offer sidewalk sales and promotions to encourage visitors to stop in. The Saco River Winter Market will also be open from 9 a.m. -12:30 with fresh greens, winter vegetables, local art, entertainment and much more. 

The community is invited to a bean supper at St Joseph's church from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Then, City Theater will welcome folks inside at 7:00 p.m. for a free concert by Tricky Britches. 

SUNDAY, February 3
There will be free skating at WestBrook skating rink on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

Sunday, stop out of the cold for some hot opera at City Theater, where Carmen (abridged) will be performed by Arts@UNE. Showtime 3:00 p.m. The opera is free.
