The Maine Arts Commission’s Calendar of Events is the state’s foremost event listing location for cultural events. Visitors to the Calendar of Events will find the latest arts and cultural events from the entire state in one convenient place. The daily updated events are posted by MaineArts.com Account holders, who are able to present their information to the many thousands of site visitors who use the calendar on a weekly basis.
What events are eligible for the calendar?
Only arts and cultural events that take place in Maine are eligible for listing in the events calendar.

You must have an account on MaineArts.com to post events. If you do not, it only takes a few minutes to create one.

To add an event, log in to your MaineArts.com user account, select the "Events" tab and then click "Add Event.” You will need to enter all of the required information, including the option to add accessibility information to your listing. Instructions for this are accessible during the listing process. Please note that there is a time saving “Use My Account Information” check box that will fill in your contact details from your account. Please make sure those details are suitable for the event that you are posting.
After you click the blue “Post” button at the bottom of the page, you will be brought to the discipline selection page where you are able to select up to four disciplines to make your event easy to find for those searching by discipline.
After you click the “Update” button you will then be at the Event Image Upload page. Here you can browse to the image of your choice, enter the required image title and add photo credits when applicable. If you do not have an image to accompany your event, click the “Skip this Step” link on the lower left part of the page. Finally, click the blue “Upload” button to list your event.
Maine Arts Commission staff must review and approve all listings before they can appear on MaineArts.com. Please allow up to 48 hours for this process.
How do I review the status of my event listing once I submit them?
Log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account, select the "Events" tab and then toggle between the two tabs labeled “Approved” and “Pending.”

Log into your existing MaineArts.com user account, select the "Events" tab, and then, under the “Title” heading, select the event listing you wish to edit. Use the drop-down menu near the bottom of the page to select delete, then click "Submit" to remove your event listing from the website.
How long are events displayed on the calendar?
All events are displayed according to your start and end dates supplied at the time of listing and are automatically removed from the calendar system once the event end date has passed.
How do I view event listings?
You can gain access to the Calendar of Events from any page of MaineArts.com by using the “Media Outreach” drop down menu, and then selecting Events Calendar.
You will find upcoming events featured below the rotating images. Click the title of the event you are interested in to access the full listing.

You can search calendar listings by county, date or keyword by using the various options available under the “Search Calendar” section. This is housed on the left hand side of the Calendar of Events section.
You may also use the monthly calendar, found top left of this section, to search for events by the day of your choice. Only days highlighted in orange contain events.

This information becomes a “feed” that often simply includes a headline and published date that appears in a subscribers RSS reader or aggregator.
Feeds allow publishers to share content automatically, and subscribers to gather requested information in one place, such as iGoogle, which can be housed on a computer or mobile device.
