Award winning Maine sculptor David Smus shares his love of Acadia National Park on its 100th anniversary with "Animals of Acadia in Bronze", an Acadia Centennial Event in Bar Harbor, Maine.  Also celebrating his 20th year showing work at Art On West, David will share the stories, ideas & observations which inspired him to create the limited edition bronze sculptures of a wide variety of birds and animals in the gallery....many of which live in Acadia National Park.

As a tribute to America's National Bird since 1782, one of Acadia's most spectacular residents, there will be a slide show depicting the steps taken in creating "Eagle Point"; a 6ft. x 6ft. bronze of two life sized bald eagles and a squirrel in a white pine (Maine's State Tree), which was installed last autumn on a lake peninsula in southern Maine, where several eagles often group together. One of the many bronzes on-site in the gallery will be a new piece entitled "Kit and Caboodle"; a red fox vixen with two frolicking kits, mounted on Deer Isle granite quarried just north of Acadia.

Come share a relaxing evening of conversation and refreshment on 1st Friday ArtWalk night; surrounded by the beauty of Acadia interpreted in the wondrous painting and sculpture found at Art On West, 78 West Street. "Under the ART sign" in Bar Harbor on July 1, 2016 from 6-9pm.
