Camden, Maine – The Midcoast Community Chorus is proud to present its winter concert, Sing to the Skies: A Celebration of American Song!
The MCC winter concert will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 3:00pm at the Strom Auditorium at Camden Hills Regional High School, located at 25 Keelson Drive in Rockport.
Co-Artistic Directors Kim Murphy and Kathryn Mahan will conduct the 100 voice chorus as they perform a selection of uplifting music that showcases a wide variety of choral works by American composers and arrangers. Accompanied on piano by Assistant Director Matthew Mainster with Phil Clement on guitar, Ezra Rugg on bass, Jeff Densmore on drums, and Maho Hisakawa on flute, the program will feature songs by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Ysaye Barnwell, James Taylor, Elaine Hagenberg, Eric Whitacre and more! This inspirational afternoon of choral music will feature both lively and evocative songs to raise the spirits and bring our Midcoast community together.
The concert will feature a drawing of this year’s winner of MCC’s annual Dream Concert Anywhere Raffle. The prize is a trip for two people to attend a concert of the winner’s choosing anywhere in the world and will include airfare, one night’s hotel accommodation, and dinner up to a maximum amount of $5,000! No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold for this exciting opportunity! Tickets will be on sale in the lobby prior to the concert and during intermission, as well as in advance directly from chorus members. Complete rules are available at mccsings.org/raflle.
To further bring our community together, the Midcoast Community Chorus will announce the recipient of their annual $5,000 grant at the concert. “We were very encouraged to receive numerous applications to our grant program this year. It reflects the giving spirit of our community in Midcoast that there are so many exemplary nonprofits that are worthy of support.
