POP-UP 265 will serve as the site of Democratic Presidential candidate Patricia Brace’s Maine campaign headquarters from Saturday, March 30 - April 20. During the opening and closing receptions, Brace will address her constituents with administration goals in a performance lecture series.
Live polls, constituent feedback and a chance to talk to the candidate will take place in the installation throughout the month. In addition, gallery patrons can buy presidential swag, sign her petition to be on the Maine Democratic Presidential ticket and learn about volunteer opportunities.
Patricia Brace, a Maine native, is running for president in 2020 because she wants to “build a future that is healthy, safe and sustainable for all Americans.” Raised in Cherryfield on a working sheep farm, Brace has since worked as a visual art professor at Rutgers University and the University of Maine and has had a successful national and international art career.
Since 2016 Brace’s work has become more political and advocatory in nature, which leads to Brace running for Democratic Presidential candidate in 2020. Viewing the role of artists as future predictors, Brace hopes to integrate her training in the visual arts field into that of policy, advocacy and law.
