Belfast Arts welcomes everyone to the second Final Fridays Art Walk of the season on June 27 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.! Stretch out your walk to visit every gallery, including the four galleries that ‘surround’ the downtown area – Tom Gaines Stonehouse on 28 Race Street, Gail Savitz’s Front Street Pottery at the corner of Front and Main Streets, Waterfall Arts at 256 High Street, and Dina Petrillo-Belfast Bay Shade Company at 1 Franklin Street (the upstairs of the post office). And of course explore all of the galleries in the center of town, on Main Street and High Street.

Highlights include:

Maine Farmland Trust Gallery: This summer, Belfast fine art photographer Lynn Karlin returns to Maine Farmland Trust Gallery for her second solo show at this location: Attention to Detail. Recently, Karlin’s work started taking a direction that is reminiscent of the old Dutch Masters – both in lighting, and in composition. MFT Gallery will be showing a particularly exquisite piece which is a classic still life of fruits and vegetables, printed on an impressive scale. Attention to Detail will be shown at the Maine Farmland Trust Gallery from June 13 to July 14.

Betts Gallery at the Belfast Framer: Betts Gallery’s July show, which opens on June 25 with an opening reception the evening of the art walk, is called Sky Above, Water Below. Four Maine Artists’ explorations of the natural environment, air and water and their relationships with these precious resources. The artists, Karen Adrienne, Betty Heselton, Christine Olson, and Donna Parkinson, work in various media including oil, watercolor, and many forms of printmaking. The show dates are June 25- July 19.

Dina Petrillo–Belfast Bay Shade Company: Visit the Belfast Bay Shade Company on the top floor of the Belfast post office to celebrate their great fortune as Down East Magazine’s choice for Best Lighting and Lampshades in Maine 2014, and check out their new shade and lamp designs. Come snack on delicious treats and listen to the lyrical talents of musician Jimmy Grackle! Also keep your eyes peeled for the new, festive Art Walk shades illuminating sidewalks near Northern Lights Gallery, Yo’ Mammas, and the beloved post office studio!

Fresh Cup Gallery: Visit Fresh Cup Gallery to view handcrafted contemporary pottery made by Adam Bogosian and Cory Upton-Cosulich. Mostly functional pottery is displayed in a lovely, casual space off Main Street.  Come see how some beautiful pottery could enhance your everyday life!  Brand new work comes in daily, new artists featured in June include Paige Pride and Nathan Willever, both local Maine ceramic artists. Ask about taking a class! 

Galerie Dufour at Eat More Cheese: Galerie Dufour at Eat More Cheese will feature Inner Space, a series of fine art nudes by Charles Laurier Dufour that contrasts the soft human form against harsh interior settings.  Galerie Dufour's monthly exhibitions are only up for three days, beginning Friday of every artwalk and ending Sunday.

Northern Lights Gallery: Northern Lights Gallery will be presenting Intertwined: Architecture of the Nest & Ancient Traditions in Weaving. They are pleased to present the work of Sharon Beals, author and photographer of Nests: Fifty Nests and the Birds that Built Them. The Nest Series documents nest and eggs specimens dating from the 1800′s to present day from four wonderful science collections. Along with Beal’s 36”x36” stunning nest images, Intertwined: Architecture of the Nest & Ancient Traditions in Weaving is a revolving exhibition with works coming and going through out the month of Maine First Nations basket makers, birch bark artists and complex Sgrafitto bird and marine life sculpture.

Susan Tobey White – High Street Studio and Gallery: High Street Studio & Gallery will be having an opening showing the new works of Susan Tobey White inspired by a Golden New Orleans experience. Also showing works by Sheep Jones, Julie Cyr, Blue Moon Clay Carvers, Claude O'Donnell and Gail Savitz.

Waterfall Arts: Waterfall Arts is currently showing Living in these Bodies, by artists Peggy McKenna, Lisa Kushner, Angela Lorenz and Jessica Straus, in the Clifford Gallery. On display in the Corridor Gallery is Summer Color, vivid artwork by local artists.

Over 20 downtown galleries participate in the Final Fridays Art Walks in downtown Belfast, Maine. Look for the new blue flags! Come and enjoy the paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, etchings, assemblage, and fine craft of local Maine artists, all on display in Belfast’s downtown galleries. The Final Fridays Art Walk also features local performers, sharing a variety of talents including music and dance. Many of the galleries plan to provide refreshments for visitors. Join teaching artist Bridget Matros for an all-ages hands-on activity for the artist in everyone! Parents can get tips on family-friendly galleries to visit and how to enjoy the Art Walk with kids. Bus groups are welcomed. Free!

Also featured at the June Final Fridays Art Walk will be musician Lincoln Blake. Known for his piano and saxophone performances, Lincoln Blake will be bringing jazz to the art walk this month!  And the Belfast Bay Shade Company will be hosting local singer/songwriter Jimmy Grackle.
