Exhibition: Jim Nickelson's "Adventures in Celestial Mechanics" at Maine Media Gallery
- January 21, 2014

Jim Nickelson’s pursuit to capture each full moon of the year culminates into an ever-growing series titled “Adventures in Celestial Mechanics,” and select images are on display in the Maine Media Gallery from January 29 through March 1. The exhibition will come to an end with an Artist Talk and Closing Reception on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Known for his mastery of night photography, Nickelson captures the magic of each full moon amidst a stunning scene somewhere in the Maine landscape. The moon often becomes a systematic part of our lives, leaving us numb to its daily orbital journey and incredible influence on the land and its people. With this series, Nickelson strives to reignite an interest in the moon with the viewer, bringing to life its significance in the history of cultures around the world.
