September at the River Roads Artisans Gallery in Skowhegan features the fine antler baskets of Sarah Coleman, and the artistic photography of Rebecca Norling. Sarah Coleman is a self- taught basket maker from Jackman, Maine. Making antler baskets since 1991,her antlers come from Maine's white-tailed deer, mule deer from the West, and Alaskan Caribou. Each one helps to lend design elements and shape to Sarah's unique baskets. Rebecca Norling grew up on a farm in Norridgewock, Maine and currently works as a teacher in Portland. Rebecca's work is most often inspired by her fascination with nature. She owes her eye to a long line of familial artists, including her father, sculptor Barry Norling.
