Gould Academy Husky Mascot by Sculptor David Smus Unveiled
- October 28, 2016

Maine bronze sculptor David Smus recently completed the installation of his life sized Siberian Husky Mascot bronze monument for Gould Academy in Bethel Maine. The bronze Husky reaches to a height of almost 6 feet and width of 3 feet sitting atop a ton and a half granite block, engraved "Gift from the Class of 1966". The piece was commissioned for Gould by the Alumni Class of 1966, who were celebrating their 50th anniversary there with a record turnout of other alumni, faculty and students on homecoming weekend of September 24, 2016. A beautiful early fall day accented the festivities, as the Gould Husky was unveiled between an assembly with alumni speakers and a procession of alumni classes outside of Bingham Hall on Church Street, where the sculpture now looks out toward a beautiful panorama of the western mountains of Maine.
