Throughout the summer, Haystack faculty, visiting artists, technical assistants, and staff share their inspirations, ideas, and work as part of our 2019 Public Program Series. Most programs begin at 7:00 PM (with the exception of the Staff Presentations, which begin at 4:30 PM.) in Haystack’s Gateway Auditorium, located at 89 Haystack School Drive, Deer Isle, Maine. These events are free and open to the public.

Studio walk-throughs and auctions are free and open to the public. Proceeds benefit Haystack’s scholarship program and studio improvements.

Haystack Hands: An Exhibition of New Work by Polly Apfelbaum

Deer Isle – Haystack’s second exhibition of the season is curated by Kate McNamara and
features the work of Polly Apfelbaum.
A brochure with an essay by Kate McNamara will accompany this exhibition.
About Haystack Mountain School of Crafts
Founded in 1950, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts is an international craft school located on the Atlantic Ocean in Deer Isle, Maine. We offer workshops to participants of all skill levels as well as a residency program, conference, visiting artist series, and programs for Maine residents. Noted American architect, Edward Larrabee Barnes, designed the award-winning campus and the school attracts faculty and students from across the country and internationally.
Tour Haystack
Guided tours of Haystack’s campus and studios are available every Wednesday at 1 pm, through August 28. The award-winning campus is a series of shingled buildings cascading down a granite hillside overlooking Jericho Bay and the Deer Isle Thoroughfare. A suggested $5 donation supports Haystack’s scholarship program.
