Haystack Mountain School of Crafts Announces End-of-Season Auction Supporting the School's Mission of Connecting People Through Craft
Deer Isle, Maine – On Friday, August 23, 2024, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts invites the community to The Haystack Auction, an end-of-season fundraiser, in the Gateway Auditorium on the School’s award-winning campus (89 Haystack School Drive).
This event will feature the work of Haystack faculty and visiting artists, showcasing the important work that artists and makers contribute to the field of craft through creative practice and generosity in teaching. Attendees will have the chance to bid on works by Michael Simon, Dante Marioni, Leckie Gassman and a Haystack collaboration between Lynn Bennett-Carpenter & John Hitchcock, to name a few.
Proceeds from this live event will support Haystack’s ongoing programming and operations, including its fellowship awards, ensuring equitable access to the School’s workshops and sessions. Ginger Aldrich, Development Director, shares, “Last year we awarded full scholarships and fellowships to more than 100 students who participated in Haystack’s intensive studio workshops.” She adds, “Creating opportunities and access for emerging and established artists from around the world is central to Haystack’s mission.”
A preview reception at 5:30 p.m. precedes the live auction beginning promptly at 7 p.m. Tickets for the reception and auction are $75/ticket, while auction-only entry is $25/ticket. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, June 20 at haystack-mtn.org/august-auction.
