I want to apologize for falling behind on my weekly updates — it's been a hectic few months in Augusta! However, this week we celebrated Franco-American Day in the Maine Legislature. It was really something to hear both French and English spoken interchangeably in the halls of the State House — the very building where politicians once sought to ban the speaking of French in schools and stamp out our Acadian heritage.

I was honored to induct two extraordinary women from the St. John Valley into the Maine Franco-American Hall — renowned author Cathie Pelletier of Allagash and Dr. Fern Desjardins of St. Agatha.
