July ArtTalk at the Harlow Gallery - Rex Holsapple
- May 28, 2013

Hallowell, Maine - On Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 6-7:30 p.m., photographer Rex Holsapple will share some of his work and talk about his photographic process at the Harlow Gallery in downtown Hallowell. This will not be a technical lecture about lenses, exposures, developing times, etc. (Yes, he still uses film.) Instead, Rex describes his talk this way: "Most people take pictures to remindthemselves of what they saw at a certain place and a certain time. I make photographs to show other people what I saw. The difference in these two tasks affects what photographs I make and how I make them. I am excited to have the opportunity to discuss this with others at one of the Harlow Gallery's ArtTalks."
The Harlow Gallery is located at 160 Water Street in Hallowell. Our ArtTalk series is sponsored by The Bank of Maine, a local Maine business and long-time supporter of the Harlow Gallery. Bank locally! Your $3 suggested donation supports arts programming at the Harlow Gallery.
Rex Holsapple has a BA in Mathematics and an MBA. He has been a manager of foreign exchange rate risk, a chief investmant officer, and an investment consultant. He is now a working artist who makes black and white photographs which he displays at the Harlow Gallery and at outdoor art festivals. He calls the change of careers "exhilarating". He and his wife have lived in Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, England, and Nebraska. They now live in Mount Vernon, Maine, which they describe as "the best place ever."
