Maine Arts Commission Issues Call for Veterans’ Artwork for Fall 2025 Exhibition

Augusta, Maine – The Maine Arts Commission is proud to announce the Call for Art for the Fall 2025 Maine Veterans Art Exhibition, offering Maine Veterans a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity and share their lived experiences through visual art. The exhibition will be held throughout the State Capitol Complex in Augusta and is open to Veterans from all branches of the military. Submissions will be accepted from July 7 to September 12, 2025.
Veterans may submit up to two pieces of two-dimensional artwork. Selected works will be prominently displayed at the Burton M. Cross Office Building in Augusta, from November 3, 2025 to February 27, 2026.
In honor of National Veterans and Military Families Month, a Veterans Art Celebration Ceremony will take place on November 13, 2025, at Togus Theater at the VA Medical Center in Augusta. The event will feature special speakers, the presentation of custom Quilts of Valor to first-time exhibiting artists, performances, and time to reflect on the artistic contributions of our Veteran community. Friends, family, and the public are welcome.
The Maine Arts Commission is proud to partner once again with the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services, Veterans Affairs and the Quilts of Valor Foundation to bring this meaningful exhibition to life.
Key Dates for Fall 2025:
- July 7 – September 12: Registration Open
- Nov. 3 - February 27: Artwork on Display
- November 13: Celebration Ceremony at Togus
Registration will be available on July 7,2025 through our application portal at: mainearts-grants.maine.gov
Once registered, participants will receive instructions for drop-off coordination and exhibit details.
Artwork Guidelines:
- Artists may submit up to two two-dimensional, framed or professionally mounted works.
- All pieces must be ready to hang with appropriate hardware and labeled on the back with the artist’s name and contact information.
- Artwork may be hung vertically or horizontally; please indicate your preference.
- Please do not submit work in mailing tubes or cylinders.
