AUGUSTA, MAINE--The Maine Arts Commission celebrated Arts + Culture Day at the Maine State House, April 22, 2019. Artists, arts organizations, educators, and students from all parts of Maine gathered in the Hall of Flags to help increase awareness for the state's cultural sector.

The program included remarks from Governor Janet Mills, state legislators, cultural agency leaders, students and arts advocates.  Featured performances included the Pineland Fiddlers, a string trio from the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, readings by Maine Poet Laureate Stuart Kestenbaum, and recitations by Maine Poetry Out Loud champion, Joao Victor.
