Mainely Improv to Present On-the-Spot Comedy at Orion October 2
- September 02, 2015
Topsham, ME - Mainely Improv makes you laugh and gets you involved in the show. The comedy troupe brings its madcap antics to the Orion Performing Arts Center, 66 Republic Ave, Topsham on Friday, October 2 at 7:30 pm. The performers improvise hysterical comedy right before your eyes. Comic situations are based entirely on audience suggestions. Mainely Improv performs in the style of TV’s “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?” Every show is different. Great fun for the whole family! The show is a fundraiser for the Capital Fund of the Orion PAC to help install new curtains and improve the sound and lights. Tickets: $10 Adult, $5 Student under 19, available at the door or online at www.brownpapertickets.com/2245864. For more information, check the website, www.orionperformingartscenter.org.
“The one thing that is predictable about improv comedy is that it is totally unpredictable,” said Dan Marois, who with his wife, Denise, produces Mainely Improv. “We have no idea what we are going to do when the show begins and we rely on the wit and genius of the audience to give us outrageous situations to perform throughout the evening.” Mainely Improv appears with a different cast for each performance, but many favorite performers are: Dan Marois of Poland Spring, Julie Poulin of Monmouth, Chuck Waterman of Gorham, Brian Files of Gardiner, Sabrina Yocono of Lewiston, Ryan Jackson of Rockland, Kathleen Nation of Monmouth, Marie Stewart of South Portland, Angela Simpson of Gray, Steve Corning of South Paris, Bob LeBlanc of Newburyport, MA and Katie Nadeau of Waltham, MA. “Some of these performers have worked together for many years,” said Marois. “Knowing each other so well, they play off each other’s comic timing to make a truly memorable evening of comedy.
The Orion Performing Arts Center is School District #75’s theater inside Mt. Ararat Middle School, featuring great acoustics, 900 seats, and a beautiful lobby. Fully accessible, the theater hosts both school and community events and performances year-round, and is available for rent.
