PORTLAND YOUTH DANCE hosts FOR THE LOVE OF DANCE

Non-profit youth dance organization hosts a festive and posh fundraising gala featuring silent auction items, live music, DJ and dancing, cocktails, desserts, and entertainment.

Westbrook, Maine - For the Love of Dance will take place on Saturday, March 8th, 2014, from 7pm to 11pm at the beautiful Avant Dance and Event Center. Portland Youth Dance premiers its first annual benefit gala to support the organizationʼs burgeoning dance outreach and scholarship programs. This formal event will feature cocktails and desserts, DJ and dancing, live music, and tarot card readings, along with a grand assortment of silent auction items donated by local businesses ranging from ski packages and design services to restaurant gift cards, artwork, sporting event tickets, and spa treatments.

Tickets in advance are $35 each or $60 per couple, or $40 each at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk in the lobby of Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio at 517 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine. Portland Youth Dance (PYD) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving the greater Portland youth community. PYD provides free dance classes and performance opportunities to children unable to access it through traditional financial means. The organization proudly oversees three pre-professional dance companies as an alternative to the competitive dance landscape. Company members are encouraged and coached to perform and choreograph, as well as mentor within the affiliated community dance outreach programs. Many students from the community outreach programs move up into the pre-professional companies with the financial support of PYD scholarship funds.
