National Endowment for Arts Announces Second Round of Grants for FY 2024

Over $1 Million will go to Maine Organizations

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has announced the second round of grants for FY 2024, totaling $110 million for projects across all states and jurisdictions. Over $1 million will go to Maine organizations under three NEA funding categories: Grants for Arts Projects, Our Town, and State and Regional Partnerships.

Grants for Arts Projects 

These grants strengthen our arts and cultural ecosystem with matching funds ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. Congratulations to the Maine recipients:

  • Maine State Music Theater, Brunswick: Supporting free, sensory-friendly performances of musicals for young audiences.
  • Nibezun, Passadumkeag: Supporting the Wabanaki Traditional Arts Mentorship program, workshops, and the Wabanaki Artist Directory.
  • Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center: Supporting New Mainers On Stage, a monthly performance showcasing immigrant communities.
  • Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, Portland: Supporting literary arts.
  • Telling Room, Portland: Supporting the Young Writers and Leaders Program.

The next deadline for organizations interested in applying for Grants for Arts Projects is Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Our Town Grants 

These creative placemaking grants support projects integrating arts into community efforts. Matching grants range from $25,000 to $150,000. Congrats to the Maine recipients:

  • Maine Mill, Lewiston: Supporting a community-driven design plan for art, history, and cultural features in the Riverwalk promenade.
  • University of Maine System, Orono: Supporting arts programming and public art addressing climate change impacts on wild blueberries and local pollinators.

The next deadline for organizations interested in applying for Our Town is Thursday, August 1, 2024

 State and Regional Partnerships 

Forty percent of NEA’s funds support state arts agencies and regional organizations.
