Penobscot Bay Singers to perform hits from A British Invasion band, Folk Rock, Rhythm and Blues at their Annual POPs Concert. What were you listening to in the late 1960's and early 1970's? A British Invasion band, Folk Rock, Rhythm and Blues? The Penobscot Bay Singers will be performing songs from all these genres at their annual Pops concert on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14, 7:30 p.m., at the First Church, UCC in Belfast. The Rick Dostie trio along with the Singers will present tunes by the Beatles, from “She Loves You” all the way to “Imagine” with ten other songs in between.  Perhaps your tastes run more to the Mamas and the Papas, an American Folk Rock group. A medley of four songs arranged by Kirby Shaw is being prepared for your listening pleasure. “Sound of Silence” and “Scarborough Fair” is being performed for those who enjoy Simon and Garfunkel. Stevie Wonder's “You are the Sunshine of my Life” rounds out the concert for the R&B fans. Perhaps some of your favorites will be performed by our soloists or ensemble groups.

The Penobscot Bay Singers have once again been the recipient of a handmade quilt, crafted by Susan Woehler. Raffle tickets are currently available from members of the group, or you may purchase them at the concerts. The drawing will be held on Saturday, June 14th during the concert. You need not be present to win.

The concerts will be presented on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Church, UCC on Church Street in Belfast. The concerts are being held upstairs in the Parish Hall in the rear of the church. There is an elevator for those who cannot negotiate the stairs. Refreshments will be served during intermission. Admission is $15, accompanied children free.
