FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Best known as a playwright, Laura Krieger Emack wrote several early novels before turning to writing plays. Her first script became a finalist in the Maine Playwrights Festival, and two plays were included in Penobscot Theatre's highly competitive Northern Writes New Play Festival. Her plays have been performed in New York, New England, and online. Laura truly enjoyed her years of working with theatre troupes in nearby Belfast and Bangor. However, with caretaker responsibilities keeping her at home, Laura decided to establish Prospect Press to revist and publish her fiction manuscripts.

Twins:  A Coming-of-Age Novella was originally composed in 2012, following the death from cancer of a close friend devoted to her delightful granddaughter. Twins is an engaging, dialogue-rich tale about estrangement, guilt, and the families we build when our blood families fail us. It follows a vulnerable teenager - inspired by the granddaughter, and a guilt-ridden older man - based on my friend's last lover - who broke her heart. The two characters find each other at a critical juncture in both their lives. By the time a waitress at a truck stop calls them twins, the word carries everything the book has earned.

Always writing prolifically, Laura pursued a career as a Maine certified public accountant. She served as chairperson of the Finance Authority of Maine and a partner in a regional CPA firm, as well as running a home-based practice for fifteen years. She is a qualified French interpreter, and studies Brazilian Portuguese daily on Duolingo. Laura writes a Substack called "Seeing South America" that explores aspects of that other American continent, which garners little attention.

The novella Twins is available on Amazon Kindle in both e-book and paperback formats. It is not necessary to own a Kindle machine anymore, as a free application is available for virtually all devices. Laura is available for readings and talkback sessions, and a discussion guide has been prepared for book groups to use, upon request. Questions and requests for review copies of Twins can be addressed to LKECPA@fairpoint.net
