Scholarships Available for Sculpture Workshops

WEST RUTLAND, VT- Enhance your artistic "tool kit" with hands-on workshops in multiple sculpture media. The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center is pleased to announce a variety of scholarships for participants during the 2018 summer season. The current workshop schedule is posted at www.carvingstudio.org.

The New Roads Scholarship was established to encourage exploration of new sculptural media for artistic expression using different materials. The Vinnie Ream Scholarship commemorates the achievements of women sculptors in the U.S. The Gordon Marshall Scholarship is intended for local youth to participate in hands-on workshops. The David Sterling and Trow and Holden Scholarships are available for students in financial need.

Memorial scholarships provide opportunities for aspiring sculptors. The Nina and Anthony D’Amore Scholarship, for mature and/or minority sculptors, was established by the family of B. Amore, Founder, in honor of their parents who were lifetime supporters of the Arts. Mary Beth Gutkowski Scholarship is available to serious students of sculpture who want to further their study of the human figure with professional artists and artisans in Italy. Other scholarships honor the sculpture legacies of Steven J. Mestyan, Jr.; Mathieu J. Poster; Robert Sindorf and Patrick Farrow.

To apply for a scholarship, please submit up to 10 images of your work, resume/biography, evidence of financial need and a statement of how this will impact your development as an artist by April 20, 2018 to info@carvingstudio.org or P.O. Box 495, West Rutland, VT 05777. Recipients will be advised by May 4.
