Using photographs as reference, we will paint portraits in watercolor.  Emphasis will focus on translucent skin tones and the affect of light on shapes.  All experience levels welcome and marterials and suggestions for photographing will be provided upon registration.  The ideal scenario would have you arrive at the workshop ready to paint - your image in pencil on the watercolor paper.  Your photo reference can be transferred by freehand, grid or projector (mine will be available should you choose to complete your drawing upon arrival.)  The best, highly recommended image will have well defined areas of natural light and shadow, preferably not front lit.  The first morning I will demonstrate applying transparent washes to establish skin tones, hair, clothing, background.  After that we will work on one as you develop your painting.  Remember, painting is a verb.  We are together to learn and make art.  Tuck your sense of humor in with your brushes.  This will be fun!
