ARTS & CULTURAL ALLIANCE OF FREEPORT HOSTS TEEN WRITING WORKSHOP
Imagining Fairy Villages, Elves, Trolls, Gnomes, and Other Forest Creatures
Arts & Cultural Alliance of Freeport (ACAF) is sponsoring a free writing workshop for teens aged 13 to 18 years. This workshop invites participants to rediscover a time when the forest was alive with magical creatures. Writers are encouraged to explore the forest, imagine the hidden lives of the fantastical creatures that live there, and share their stories through creative writing.
The workshop will will take place in Jackman Woods in Freeport and will be guided by Jefferson Navicky who is the author of Antique Densities: Modern Parables & Other Experiments in Short Prose, as well as the story collection, The Paper Coast, and the poetic novel, The Book of Transparencies. He is the archivist for the Maine Women Writers Collection and, together with his wife, founded the Freeport Writers Workshop. Jefferson lives in Freeport where he often walks in the forest and imagines its secret lives. “It’s my hope that the workshop will be a place of permission to write about the enchanted world.”
Registration for this free event is first come, first serve and is limited to 10 participants. For more information and to sign up for this workshop contact director@freeportartsandculture.org
