BUCKSPORT’S WEDNESDAY ON MAIN PRESENTS “RHYTHMS OF THE HEART”, INDEPENDENT FILM BY THOM WILLEY, CHRONICLING DAVID MOSES BRIDGES, PASSAMAQUODDY CRAFTSMAN, AT THE ALAMO THEATRE, AUGUST 24, 5:30 PM.

David Moses Bridges is a Passamaquoddy canoe builder and master basket maker from Bar Harbor, who is engaged in battle with a rare form of cancer while trying to preserve family, life and tradition. Independent film maker Thom Willey captures the essence of this remarkable man in his “Rhythms of the Heart”.  This film was funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, and Richard and Marcia Morrison.

Thom Willey is scheduled to be at The Alamo for this screening, as is Chris Gray, who composed the film’s haunting and beautiful score using the Low Whistle, Tin Whistle, Seljefloyte, Bagpipes, Strings and Keyboards.  CDs will be available to purchase in the lobby.

This personal and profound film offers a unique view into the world of Native American culture, sharing perspectives not often seen or experienced.

We hope to have a canoe built by Mr. Bridges on display in the theatre lobby.

Information will be provided to make donations directly to Mr. Bridges to offset medical expenses.
