A friend & supporter of Saco River Theatre since the 90s, Billy Mitchell brings his solo show debut to Bar Mills for one special night: Friday the 13th! With a Stephen King sense of humor and a Phyllis Diller sense of style, Billy applies his unique interpretation to pop songs, American standards, and a couple of showtunes, threaded together with harrowing tales of adolescence, obsession, and coincidence... and all of it is true. But don’t worry about him — he’s still fine.

After more than 2 decades “between shows,” Billy has decided that fear is his new comfort food. So, armed with his “folkish balladeer voice” (Cabaret Scenes) and bespoke arrangements by collaborator Tracy Stark, he’s bringing his stories back to their source: Maine. He will be joined onstage by SRT’s own Jennifer Porter and other surprise guests.

A lifelong performer, writer, director, and maze-maker, Billy performed nationally, regionally, locally, and privately — including the first NYC revival of “Assassins” at the Provincetown Playhouse, and a command performance of “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well...” for the Belgian Ambassador — and then he got a day job. Since then, he has directed & written all around New York & New Jersey, hosted and sung for benefits, fundraisers, and long car rides. In addition to other projects, audiences across the U.S. and the U.K. have enjoyed his fill-in-the-blanks whodunnit, “Villain: DeBlanks” — which has been presented three times by Saco River Theatre.

Note: Adult language & situations. Recommended for ages 16+.
