BUCKSPORT’S WEDNESDAY ON MAIN PRESENTS SIERRA CLUB MAINE’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, GLEN BRAND, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2016, AT THE ALAMO THEATRE, 85 MAIN STREET, 5:30–7:00 PM
Wednesday On Main welcomes The Maine Sierra Club’s Executive Director, Glen Brand, to share news of the Sierra Club’s activities in this state, as well as on the national scene. Fighting every day to preserve and protect our beautiful state and nation, it can be an uphill but rewarding battle. Mainers and Hancock County residents in particular have long been vocal and active in the effort to keep our land, air and water safe. After this year’s legislative session, Mr. Brand’s appearance couldn’t be more timely as he discusses Maine energy issues and more.
Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization. Their mission is to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. The Maine Chapter, formally established in 1993, is a volunteer-run grassroots organization working to:
- Protect Maine’s wilderness heritage
- Fight global warming & promote smart growth
- Safeguard Maine’s clean water and coastline
- Promote clean air and energy efficiency
- Hold public officials accountable
- Support pro-environment candidates for public office
