- Date: October 21, 2017
- Time: 01:00 PM
- Location: Greenhut Galleries , Portland
George Lloyd artist talk Oct. 21 @ 1pm
free event, limited seating
Mr. Lloyd plans to talk about his work with particular reference to the paintings and works on paper he made during the two decades [ 80s and 90s ] following his return to the East Coast from the San Francisco Bay Area where he had been living and working since 1969 .
The artist will direct his remarks to the question of geographical and/or climate related influences on his art making, in which respect, he would cite his artistic predecessors, whether literary [EG The MAXIMUS Poems by Chas Olson] or visual, or both, as in the case of painter/poet, Marsden Hartley.
NOTE :
"George Lloyd Paintings: The Maine Years", an exhibition shown at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art in the summer of 2001, was a retrospective survey of more than 50 works from the same [1982 thru 2000] period as the present exhibition. Note that the OMMA 2001 exhibition brochure with the essay, ‘On GEORGE LLOYD‘, by poet/critic W. S. Di Piero, would be available, while copies last, at the reception desk.
