Haystack Make + Take: Mobile Building Workshop
- Date: April 9, 2026
- Time: 05:30 PM - 07:30 PM
- Location: Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle
Join us for a hands-on building session where we will create our own unique mobiles using a mix of recycled plastics, wood, and metal components. Participants will explore how things fit together while assembling prefabricated pieces—colorful mosaic-patterned plastic shapes, laser-cut wooden elements, and bent metal armatures—into balanced, hanging sculptures. Participants can also paint and decorate their wooden pieces to complement the vibrant recycled plastic patterns.
This workshop is part of an ongoing dialogue about thoughtfully re-homing marine plastics. We'll discuss how and why we incorporate these materials into functional, beautiful objects while considering their appropriate uses.
Family Friendly | This workshop is open to all ages. Children are welcome to participate with the supervision of an adult—a great opportunity to make and learn together.
All levels welcome; all materials provided. Register at haystack-mtn.org/winter-programs.
