Introduction To Painting Realistic Birds With Watercolor
- Date: February 5, 2026 - February 26, 2026 (Thursday)
- Time: 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM
- Location: Online, Mount Desert
During this 4-week workshop hosted on Zoom, Susannah demonstrates basic watercolor techniques to paint birds using a limited watercolor palette. No prior painting experience is necessary.
Students will learn to control watercolor using mostly a wet-on-dry technique with forays into wet-on-wet to create soft edges and textures. During the workshop, we will focus on creating depth and feather texture with paint to create the illusion of realism without sacrificing painterliness. Each Thursday session is 3 hours to accommodate student questions and live feedback as you work.
Students will have access to full recordings of the demos for 90 days after the workshop ends.
- Early Bird registration opens Monday, December 1, 2025, and closes December 15, 2025 (or until the workshop is full, whichever is first).
- Regular registration opens December 16, 2025, and closes January 15, 2025 (or until the workshop is full, whichever is first).
- Workshop begins Thursday, February 5, 2026.
- A supply list and full schedule will be emailed to students in January.
