Born in Atlanta and growing up in the mountains of Northeast Georgia, Jenny Whitter discovered her love of music through the Foxfire music program. After high school she hit the road to roam the country honing her skills. She went to every bluegrass festival she could find from North Carolina and New York in the east to California and Colorado in the west. In 1996 Jenny moved to Maine.

Combining her bluegrass and punk influences she started penning original songs that led to her forming Jenny jumpstart and the Cap Guns with Haakon Kallweit on upright bass and backing vocals, and Marty Lang on guitar. Together, they play original Indie, Country and Folk tunes from the long roads they have traveled and borrowed songs from friends and artist they respect and appreciate.
