LEWISTON, ME — The Maine Music Society is thrilled to present its 31st Annual Battle of the Blends on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Franco Center (46 Cedar Street, Lewiston). Under the direction of Master of Ceremonies and MMS Artistic Director Richard Nickerson, this spectacular evening brings five premier vocal groups together for an unforgettable celebration of live a cappella music.

Battle of the Blends showcases the extraordinary range, creativity, and joy of the human voice. This year's lineup delivers immense musical variety, spanning genres from traditional barbershop and folk to contemporary jazz, pop, and rock. Perfect for longtime a cappella enthusiasts and families looking for a vibrant night out, this long-standing community tradition promises high-energy performances and incredible vocal artistry.

Meet This Year's Lineup

Maine Music Society Chamber Singers
The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers are members of the Maine Music Society Chorale who perform a cappella music from various genres, including early motets, folk songs, modern art songs, and pop music.

Acapetal: Acapetal is a multi-grade, student-run mixed-voice a cappella group at Brunswick High School, founded in the fall of 2021. You won’t want to miss their energetic musical renditions.

The Downeasters: The Downeasters are a mixed-voice a cappella chorus with members from all across Maine, dedicated to fostering connection and growth through shared vocal harmony.

None of the Above: Celebrating 20+ years of music-making and camaraderie, None of the Above (NOTA) is an a cappella octet performing a diverse repertoire of catchy pop tunes, finger snapping jazz standards, folk songs, uplifting spirituals, and non-traditional academic pieces.

UMaine Renaissance: UMaine Renaissance is the University of Maine’s premier, thirteen member, all-treble a cappella group, stemming from the University Singers choir, focused on encouraging students to get involved in music during their education and community members to stay involved throughout their lives.
