Join us for a discussion with featured artists Reid Callanan and Cig Harvey as part of Maine Media's Master Lecture Series.  The photographers will discuss their unique journey where they experienced, reinterpreted, and rephotographed the work of Walker Evans.

Their work is currently on display in the exhibition Cuban Footsteps: In the Footsteps of Walker Evans at the Rockport Maine Media Gallery.  After Tuesday nights' event, the Gallery will be open for exhibition viewing and light dessert.

Reid Callanan is a photographer, educator, business owner, and father of two. He is founder and director of Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, currently in its 25th year offering photography workshops to the international imaging community. Reid started his photographic career in 1976 as a work/study student with the Maine Photographic Workshops where he served as lab manager, store manager, operations manager, and managing director. He left the coast of Maine in 1989 and headed for the high desert of New Mexico to start Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. In 1994, Reid founded the non-profit Santa Fe Center for Photography and is currently an officer on its Board of Directors. Even though "cameras don't take pictures," Reid has been photographing with a Polaroid SX-70 camera and TimeZero film since 1976. His ongoing series of personal photographs is named Homescapes.

Cig Harvey is an editorial and fine art photographer whose work has been exhibited in numerous museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; the Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, Maine; and the International Museum of Photography and Film at the George Eastman House, Rochester, New York. She is the author of You Look At Me Like An Emergency and the recently released, Gardening At Night. Harvey’s editorial clients consist of New York Magazine, Kate Spade, and Harper’s Bazaar among others.

About the Exhibition:
