- Date: March 23, 2013
- Time: 07:00 PM
- Location: Universalist Unitarian Church, Belfast
The Penobscot Bay Singers and Mount View Chamber Singers once again plan to the share the stage in a joint concert scheduled for March 23 and 24 in Belfast.
Choral music set to poetry is the theme of the Penobscot Bay Singers offerings for this concert, conducted by Richard Dostie. “Love is the Key” is a contemporary work written by Zebulon Highben, winning him the 2011 Raabe Prize for sacred choral composition, with a setting to the poem “A Song for the Least of All Saints” by Christina Rossetti.
Another featured piece will be “In the Night We Shall go In” by Imant Raminsh, composed for four part choir, cello and piano. The soloists are Penobscot Bay Singers' own Shannon Hollister on cello and pianist Linnea Johnson. Four other works set to poetry shall also by performed by the group.
The Mount View Chamber Singers, an a cappella group from Mount View High School in Thorndike, directed by David Stevenson shall be performing a mixture of secular and sacred pieces from the Renaissance through the present. Well-known for their Christmas concerts throughout the state, the Mount View Chamber Singers will lend their a cappella and blending skills to madrigals, motets, spirituals and anthems.
The concerts will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, 7:00 pm at Universalist Unitarian Church on Miller Street in Belfast and Sunday, March 24, 2013, 3:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Court Street in Belfast. Suggested donation is $10-15 per adult.
