We Are All Magicians

This Temporary Space is pleased to present We Are All Magicians, a group show featuring works by Alanna Hernandez, Annika Earley, Bethany Engstrom, Cindy McGuirl, and Monserrat Indarte. A public opening reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 3-6pm.

Magic exists in what cannot be fully seen or explained. It moves just beyond the edge of the physical world, felt more strongly by some, glimpsed more clearly by others, yet present for all. It lives in intuition, In memory, in gesture, and in the spaces between what is known and what is sensed.

We Are All Magicians brings together artists who approach magic not as illusion, but as a way of understanding and moving through the world. Across their practices, magic emerges through

performance, through connections to heritage and ancestry, through acts of transformation, and through moments of escape from the constraints of the physical realm.

In this exhibition, magic is both a tool and a way of understanding experience. The artists use their work to process emotion, memory, and trauma. Through making, they explore how we understand, transform, and move forward. The act of creating becomes a kind of ritual, where something difficult can be expressed, held, and slowly reshaped.

Rather than offering a single definition, the exhibition invites an opening. Magic is already here; embedded in how we see, how we feel, and how we shape meaning from the world around us.
