About the Artist

Painter of images seen from the sea, Margaret McCrea captures the colors of water in watercolors. Whether it be a lighthouse, windjammer or isolated Maine island, every painting translates what is before her onto paper. Having sailed the eastern seaboard from Cape Breton to Key West, the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas, she has had no lack of stimulating and exciting subject matter.

Daily journals record her travels. Maine Sail, an illustrated journal of Maine coast cruising, published by Down East Publications, is an example of her work. She gives lectures on these voyages from a sailor's point of view, with or without documention by slides and actual watercolors, as well as watercolor "how to" demonstrations. Price for lecture depends on extent of involvement. Slide lecture alone is $100. Will work with nonprofits.
