About the Artist

Annegret Baier is a hand drummer, percussionist and multi instrumentalist who plays and sings traditional West African rhythms on original African-made instruments. She is a classically trained musician from the University of Music in Stuttgart, Germany,and has studied percussion with many teachers from Africa, Cuba and Brazil. Her primary mentor is master drummer Famoudou Konate from Guinea, West Africa whom she has studied with in Germany, the US and on several occasions in Guinea!
Annegret leads interactive classes/workshops, offers school residencies and does performances both solo, with a dancer or a small ensemble.
Children and adults enjoy the hands-on experience of drumming and creating music with others.
