Jimena Lasansky

About the Artist

For over thirty-five years Jimena has been performing and teaching in Maine. She has taught classes and workshops, conducted residencies and performed throughout the eastern seaboard and Central and South America. Her dance/movement residencies explore the choreographic process through themes and memories. Participants experiment with movement, design, and artistic process. Working alone and in groups, students learn to develop original movement and use this material to explore both choreography and critique. Along with dance, workshops often incorporate poetry and visual arts. Jimena encourages community participation in the development of workshops and performances.
