About the Artist

Emily Ojala has coordinated dance residencies throughout Maine since 1988 as a former member of the Ram Island Dance Company. In her work with children, adults, and special needs groups, Emily designs workshops that specifically reflect the interests and needs of the group. A typical residency would end in a performance. The basic elements of dance, group improvisational exercises and performance provide the underlying structure of the workshops. Providing a safe environment for individual self-expression and group decision-making are emphasized in Emily's leadership style.
