About the Artist

Bill Carpenter is the autor of The Hours of Morning, Speaking Fire at Stones, A Keeper of Sheep, and Wooden Nickel. He conducts workshops in creative writing, reads from his own work and lectures on Maine poetry, past and present, using this as a springboard to discuss how the creative process applies to all literature. His second book of poems, Rain, won the 1985 Samuel French Morse Award from Northeastern University. Bill was a 1984 recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellowship.
