About the Artist
Kate Kennedy taught creative writing at Portland High School for twenty years. Currently, she does writing residencies around the State for teenagers and adults. She also enjoys working with teachers and non-native speakers of English. Kate's workshops and lecture/readings encourage writers to explore different voices and forms from memoir to fiction, and journals to short stories and creative non-fiction, looking at both the tangles that can silence writers and the pleasures that inspire them. Her novel, End over End, was published in hard-cover with Soho Press in 2001. It appeared in paperback in April of 2002. She's at work on another novel, set in the Southwest during the 1950's and the 1990's. Her book of 13 short biographies, More than Petticoats: Remarkable Maine Women, will be published in the fall of 2005.
