About the Artist
For the last ten years Gary Lawless has done writing workshops with a wide range of people who do not necessarily read and write the English language -- people with different abilities at Spindleworks in Brunswick, homeless and low income writers at the Preble Street Resource Center, and refugee families at Reiche School, both in Portland. He has been poet in residence for the town of Sitka, Alaska, and for the National Park Service at Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior. He has taught creative writing for five years in MSAD #75's adult education program.
