About the Artist

Ruth Sargent began her career as a photo-journalist for the Portland newspapers. Credited with ten published books and numerous magazine articles, she speaks in schools, libraries and universities. During her presentations she details the excitement of "researching," which she terms "playing detective." Ruth's photo/slide program, "Island Living: Past, Present and Future," was funded by the Maine Humanities Council and National Endowment for the Humanities.
