About the Artist
Oil painter, focus on Maine coastal seascapes and landscapes, arctic and nautical themes, floral still life. Brad Betts paints a variety of Maine landscape scenes from farm life to fishing and sailing, to historical whaling scenes as well as floral still life. His favorite subject is capturing the shadows, light, and colors that are created when waves meet Maine's dramatic shoreline. His inspiration comes from growing up around the water and kayaking the Maine coastline with his wife and two sons. Brad has been an artist for over 15 years and received his education from the University of Maine in Orono. His education also comes from a long line of artists that includes, his father, his uncles and grandparents that lead back to Samuel F.B. Morse. Although much of his time is spent painting, he is also working towards his teaching certification and is currently a part time substitute teacher. Brad has sold his paintings and prints all over the country and has been featured in many shows in Maine. He paints from his home in New Gloucester Maine but loves the challenge of painting on location. ?There is nothing like sitting in front of a Maine scene and painting it, when you hear the sounds of waves and birds and you smell the sea you truly get to be a part of the painting. Brad hopes to give his viewers a sense that they too are a part of his scenes.?
