About the Artist
Flutist, guitarist, composer, arranger, performer, teacher; Carl Dimow is a truly eclectic musician. His performances range from classical music to jazz, from klezmer to blues, and from original theater music to traditional folk music. He has appeared in concerts, festivals and school residencies in the US, Europe and Central America. In addition to concert flute and guitar, Carl also performs on bass flute, ukulele, shakuhachi and an extensive collection of other ethnic flutes.
Carl is available for performances and workshops, both as a solo artist and with other musicians.
Carl performs with the Casco Bay Tummlers klezmer band who have toured in Europe, performed on Maine Public Television and Radio and released three CD?s. He also composed and performs the music for She-Who-Loves, a touring production of Figures of Speech Theater. Carl is a member of the applied music faculty at Colby College. He also maintains an active private studio in the Portland, Maine area.
Carl graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Maine music program in 1986. He has also studied privately and in masterclasses with many well known
flutists including Robert Dick and Thomas Nyfenger.
